Our Approach
Celsius converts panel vans into refrigerated vehicles for the food distribution and temperature-controlled transport sectors.
Celsius are experts at designing and building bespoke conversions for specific operational demands. We have more than 25 years’ expertise in converting vans for chilled, refrigerated and frozen distribution.
The Future of Refrigerated Vehicle Insulation
Our revolutionary approach to refrigerated vehicle insulation was developed via a UK Government-funded research and design project in which we developed a lightweight insulation solution for a zero-emissions fridge van.
Working in partnership with engineers from the University of Warwick, control systems specialists from Siemens and a leading refrigeration engineering company, Celsius’ sister company CoolVan produced a zero-emissions electric fridge van for the delivery of fresh food into city centre hospitality venues in low emissions zones.
At the heart of this project was the requirement to push new boundaries to minimise demands on the battery to power both the vehicle and the refrigeration unit by using super-efficient insulation.
The insulation needed to be lighter, more thermally efficient and sustainably sourced, which prompted the search for a recycled – and recyclable – product. After a global search to find the perfect solution, we arrived at the optimum combination of materials to create Polycore – a recycled insulation product made from plastic bottles.
Every fridge van insulated with Polycore contains up to 8,000 recycled plastic bottles and the insulation is fully recyclable at the end of life.

Our Conversions
We convert vans from all the leading manufacturers into chillers, freezers or dual temperature vans. Over more than 25 years in the refrigerated transport sector, we’ve learned exactly what end users require from their fridge vans.
We convert all our vans in-house at our manufacturing base in Lancashire and we work in partnership with the van manufacturers and refrigeration experts to deliver optimum technological solutions.
We use specialist components from the most reliable suppliers based on our clients’ operational experience and our vehicles are built to last - providing many years of dependable service.

We can advise customers on the best base vehicle based on specific operational needs like payload, dimensions, access limitations and journey profiles.
We are also leaders in the field of electric vehicles, low carbon refrigeration and sustainable insulation materials and pioneers in the construction of future-proof refrigerated transport solutions for the 21st Century.
Focusing solely on the vehicle conversion without any van supply or financing distractions, Celsius are perfectly placed to partner with large fleet operators plus assist with contract hire, leasing & rental companies.
Our People
Over its 25-year history, from modest origins in a single industrial unit, Celsius has built a committed team of skilled design engineers, fabricators, technicians and installers.
Celsius has expanded five-fold over the last decade, growing organically and sustainably in response to increasing demand for high-performance refrigerated transport solutions.
We believe one of the best ways to deliver year-on-year growth is through investment in our people through a programme of continuing development and on-the-job training.
In recent years, we have invested heavily in upskilling our team to use the latest CAD-CAM and 3-D Printing techniques and we are also increasingly employing AI to analyse operational data to optimise the performance of our conversions.
